The Sarah Baartman District Municipality (SBDM) is proud to announce that it has achieved a clean audit opinion from the Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA) for the 2024/25 financial year. This outcome affirms the municipality’s continued commitment to excellence in financial management, governance, and service delivery.
A clean audit is the highest possible audit outcome, indicating that the municipality’s financial statements are free from material misstatements, that performance reporting is credible, and that all legislative requirements have been fully complied with.
Executive Mayor, Cllr Deon de Vos, welcomed the result, noting that the achievement reflects years of disciplined administration and a strong culture of accountability throughout the organisation.
“We are extremely proud of this clean audit outcome. It is a testament to the dedication of our Council, management, and staff who consistently uphold high standards of governance. We remain committed to managing public resources responsibly and ensuring that our communities receive quality services,” said Mayor De Vos.
Municipal Manager, Ms. Unati Daniels, also expressed her appreciation to the SBDM workforce, noting that the achievement is the result of coordinated effort across all departments.
“A clean audit does not happen by chance. It requires robust systems, constant monitoring, and teamwork. This outcome reflects the professionalism and diligence of all employees,” she said.
The clean audit places the Sarah Baartman District Municipality among the top-performing municipalities in the Eastern Cape and the country. It reinforces the municipality’s role as a benchmark for sound financial governance and transparent administration.
