Infrastructure Development Highlighted During Mayor's Forum

The engagement formed part of the MEC’s ongoing service delivery roadshow to municipalities, aimed at engaging municipal leaders and officials on government programmes, infrastructure development and key service delivery priorities.

 

The session created an important platform for local mayors from across the district to provide input into provincial plans, while also allowing for open and constructive dialogue on the challenges facing municipalities and the way forward. The engagement further demonstrated the MEC’s commitment to strengthening collaboration between provincial government, district municipalities and local municipalities in order to improve service delivery to communities.

 

SBDM Executive Mayor, Cllr Deon de Vos, welcomed the presentations from the departments and encouraged greater focus on the completion of stalled projects across municipalities.

 

The MEC further committed that her departments would visit several local municipalities in the coming weeks to engage directly on municipal challenges and jointly develop plans of action to address them.

 

The successful engagement highlighted the shared commitment of all spheres of government to ensuring that the District Development Model (DDM) continues to work effectively for the benefit of communities across the Sarah Baartman District.
