Explore Sarah Baartman District this Tourism Month

22 September 2020

The Sarah Baartman District Municipality welcomes both international and local tourist back as the country has been moved to level one of the National Lockdown. The Sarah Baartman District which spans along the coast and inland areas surrounding Port Elizabeth and borders on the Western Cape is home to pristine beaches and numerous heritage sites. Last year the district received approximately 448 000 visitors, these visitors included national and international tourist and business people. The tourism high season in the district is April, June, July and December. This year the tourism industry was negatively affected by the National Lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This not only impacted the industry as it resulted in the loss of income for hundreds of people across the district. The Sarah Baartman District Municipality therefore encourages everyone to support the tourism sector through visiting local tourist destinations such as: · Tsitsikamma and Langkloof; · the Sunshine Coast; · Baviaanskloof and Gamtoos Valley; · Addo and the Sunday’s River Valley; · Jeffery’s Bay and St. Francis Bay; · The Karoo which includes the Valley of Desolation; · and Makanda. Tourist Establishments across the district will be running promotions so make sure not to miss out. For more information please contact your local tourism office or the district office on 041 508 7111, alternatively visit and ‘like’ the Sarah Baartman District Municipality Facebook page for more special offers.
